Mike Skinner and
Scott Spencer moved to Yuma, Arizona, from Wyoming in 1986. Their objective was
to move to a climate where they could build homes year-round; their vision was
to build a solid and dependable company, one home at a time.
Mike and Scott had discussed that just about anyone with a pick-up truck and a
cell phone would call themselves a builder, but that approach did not interest
them. Their goal was to be the best in the business. So they established The
Development Group.
They agreed that they would do as much of the actual work on each home as
possible. They also knew they would have a need for others who shared their
passion on their team for the work that they did not do. The pair promised to
hire only qualified subcontractors that shared a similar vision and their policy
became not simply hire the low bidder, but to prequalify any sub-contractor and
only allow those with very high standards to bid.
Mike and Scott agreed that each and every one of their homes, no matter what the
price or size, would be customized for the buyer. To TDG, a custom home is a
home built to the buyer’s liking, at the buyer’s budget. With this in mind, TDG
decided to encourage their clients to be active in the planning and building
processes.
Lastly, TDG vowed to stand behind their product. With the thousands of parts
that go into building a home, something might go wrong. Their policy is to plan
for that, just in case. TDG is committed to their homes and their warrantees.
Plain and simple, TDG stands behind what they build.
Still a "Dedicated Team Building Futures Through Commitment to Excellence and
Customer Satisfaction,” TDG decided to merge with Elliott Homes in 2008.
Your home is a large part of your future, and all of us at The Development Group
and Elliott Homes welcome the opportunity to work with you on building both.
